We are pleased to welcome Gabrielle KARDON from the Department of Human Genetics in University of UTAH, on June 3rd , invited by Julien GONDIN.
She will give a seminar at 11:30 am entitled: “Muscle Damage and Regeneration after Sterile and Pathogenic Injury”
📍The seminar will be in the Amphi 3, 3rd floor.
Abstract
Ross River (RRV) and Chikungunya (CHIKV) viruses are emerging pathogens that target the musculoskeletal system and a major health concern as they cause explosive outbreaks in humans. A major unknown in our understanding of RRV and CHIKV disease is how viral infection causes acute and chronic myalgia and myopathy, an important consequence of viral infection found in 90% of patients. I will present our recent research on how these viruses target and damage muscle and compare how muscle repairs after pathogenic versus sterile injury.
